MINUTES

Meeting: 10 January 2002

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m.

Roll Call: Mike Spadoni, Jim Ingham, Don Leach, Phil Soria, John Logg, Chief Gill and AC Sharon Villanueva.

Introduction of Guests: Firefighter Brandon Wilson, Firefighter Mark Gonzalez, Firefighter Shawn Threet and Fire Captain Terry Miller and Bob Hamilton and Dick Brown from California State Fire Association.

Public Comments: None

Director Soria made a motion to approve the minutes of the 13 December 2001 regular meeting of the board. Director Spadoni seconded. (5-0-0)

New Business:

A. Bob Hamilton and Dick Brown from California State Fire Association took the floor and presented to the Board the benefits of joining the Association at the cost of $50.00 per member annually. Tabled until the February meeting.

B. Resolution #2002-08: Resolution to Change the District Policy and Procedure manual: Approval of adding Mission Statement to Title Page, striking Sections 6010.10.3, revising 1320.12 and 6020.12.1. (5-0-0)

C. Approval of reimbursing Line Items in Budget. (5-0-0)

D. Station #5 Door Enlargement Project: Before the roll up doors can be installed three layers of bricks will need to be extracted to raise the structure and widening the apparatus bay doors. Obtaining estimates on this job are in progress.

Director Soria: District Board Goals and Objectives:

Goals: To market this organization in preparation for the 2007 voters vote of confidence and approval to continue and increase the Special Tax vital and essential to the operation of the District. To support and improve the delivery of service through strategic and tactical planning, resulting in short and long term success ultimately reducing our Insurance Service Organization (ISO) rating from our present 8 to a 7 or 6.

Objectives:

1. Chief Gill, Director Spadoni and Director Soria: Financial Responsibility, Personnel and Volunteer Firefighters.

2. Chief Gill, Director Ingham and Director Leach: Capital Improvements, 4 or 5-year plan.

3. Chief Gill, Director Logg and Director Soria: Growth internal and external.

4. Chief Gill, Director Soria and Director Ingham: Political Activity/Liaison.

Financial:

A. Director Soria made a motion to accept the 10 January 2002 transmittal. Director Leach seconded. (5-0-0)
