Fire Department Services

The Central Calaveras Fire District currently provides the following services to our communities of Mountain Ranch, Sheep Ranch, Glencoe, Rail Road Flat and Eagle Ridge Ranch/Airport California:

 

Fire Suppression: Activities Include-

 

Rescue Services- Focused on saving lives, accomplished with a thorough search of the involved structure.

Fire Control & Extinguishment- Involves the placement of hose lines and the process of securing an adequate water supply.

Property Conservation- Accomplished by protecting exposures & performing salvage activities to the involved structure and protecting the personal belongings of the occupants.

 

Emergency Medical Services: These Services Are Divided Into Two Basic Areas-

 

Basic Life Support (BLS)- When basic bandaging, splinting or immobilization is needed. (Fractures, Lacerations or Minor Trauma) *CCFRPD provides this level of service-

Advanced Life Support (ALS)- Required for more serious cases, when cardiac monitoring is needed. (Heart Attacks, Major Trauma) *Private Agencies provides this level of service-

 

Special Operations: Falls Into Two Categories, Hazardous Materials & Technical Rescue-

 

Hazardous Materials Response-Training in HazMat Response Includes:

 

Identification of the materials in question-

Rescue of threatened individuals-

Confinement of materials-

Overall safety of the scene-

 

Technical Rescue-Training In Technical Rescue Techniques:

 

Over the bank rescues-

Confine space rescues-

Below grade rope rescues-

High angle rope rescues-

Swiftwater rescues-

 

Miscellaneous Services: Everyday, The District Responds to Numerous Other Community Needs, Including:

 

Rescue of children or pets in vehicles-

Fire Station-1 (District Headquarters) designated “Baby Safe Surrender Site”, December 21st 2006-

Assisting law enforcement with lost person searches-

Property damage reduction from unforeseen circumstances-

Mutual aid calls to other jurisdictions-

Wildland fire fighting activities-

Fire watch & EMS standby at special events-

Community Support Services-

Provides aid to citizens during utility disruptions/flooding-

 

Public Education: Activities Include:

 

Discussions- Fire prevention & safety briefings to educate the community-

Tours- Tours of the fire stations are available to interested citizens-

Demonstrations- Demonstrations of fire fighting activities are conducted many times during the year-

Public Safety Awareness Campaign- A program to educate the public in overall safety through the media and in the schools-

Prevention Services: These Services Are Critical & Include:

 

Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies targeting wild fire prevention activities-

Fire Code- Responding to fire code related citizen & staff request and conducting fire code training for line personnel-

Investigations- Investigating the causes of fires-

Hazardous Materials- Planning the hazardous materials program & assisting the Calaveras County CUPA’s Jason Boetzer, Environmental Health Specialist,  (754-6399) conducting hazmat inspections-

Fire Inspections- Conducting fire safety assessments-

Pre-Incident Plans-Assist approving preplans on new buildings and providing technical review assistance with Calaveras County Fire Prevention Planner Sue Schuller (754-6390 or 604-8045) in the County Building Dept.

 

The Central Calaveras Fire & Rescue Protection District realizes that our first priority is to respond to the citizens of our community during emergency situations. We also know that our role of providing support to our citizens does not stop when the fire is out, or the patient is transported. As an organization, we have a positive impact on the community by being involved in many different ways.

 

CCFRPD profiled on Calaveras Community Television, Inc (CCTV’s Channel-7) numerous times in 2006. 

 

CCFRPD featured in 2006’s Firehouse Magazine’s Nat’l Run Survey, Parts: (I-IV).

 

CCFRPD was featured on the cover of the July 2002 California State Firefighters Association’s “The California Fire Service Magazine” and was the “Fire Department in Focus” for the month in this statewide publication.
